Thank you for visiting this Web Site. I’d like to communicate some important points about my band and the band business. I hope you will find them enlightening and worthy of your careful consideration. It is very important to me that you understand the role I personally play in the success of your affair.

Many of you are planning an event that may very well be a year to a year-and-a-half away. Maybe even longer! Yet you are concerned with what a band sounds like today; what material a band is playing now; what the singers sound like. Many of you are receiving demos, some feature performers who no longer are in the band and other performers who may not be in the band by the time your date rolls around. In many instances, the performers on a demo may have never been with that band at all. Furthermore, the musicians and singers you hear on those demos may not be there on the day of your event simply due to illness or something unexpected.

The one constant about which you should feel confident is what I as the leader, bring to your party. My ability to surround myself with the best musicians and singers is based on the quality and volume of work I provide. I am constantly approached by members of other bands asking whether there is an opening in my organization.

In my conversations with prospective clients, I am continually amazed as to how much weight is placed on the demo. I have come to realize that many a client is actually drawing close comparison to the original “hit” version of each song covered on a demo. However, the following points are never considered.

First, would you ask Frank Sinatra to sing a Bon Jovi tune? Conversely, would you really want to hear Bon Jovi sing a Frank Sinatra tune? Would you want to hear Marvin Gaye sing Josh Groban or visa versa? How about Barbra Streisand singing Beyonce? The point of this illustration is that in the course of a performance, the vocalists in my band have to be prepared to sing all of the material mentioned and much more. They have to sing songs that one would never approach “name” performers of different genres to sing. In a band like mine, vocalists are considered part of the team, not a featured performer. They, like the instrumentalists will be working for possibly four hours or more. No “name act” would come close to that length of performance time.

What people don’t realize is that the material we perform is a direct result of requests we have received over the years. It has been my function to sort them all out by firstly making sure they keep people dancing and have sustaining power. Add to this, new tunes that are popular or are indeed current requests at the present time.

The old adage “the show must go on” is truly applicable in my area of the music business. A singer or musician could be replaced for illness or emergency reasons on the day of a party. Still, the band must come and perform as though there has been no change.

This leads to the most important element I provide. Me! The most important – generally unspoken – element that makes us as popular as we are is my ability to know when and how to seamlessly call the tunes we play, generating the timing and flow that gets and keeps your guests on the dance floor. There is never a break between songs, with tempos and styles building without pause.

If you ask any industry professional from caterer to consultant, I am confident they will agree upon one thing: Michael Lerich calls a great party! This is why we have been called on to play the personal parties of many of the top industry professionals. For example, the weddings of Consultants Linda Alpert’s daughter and Sue Primer’s son and the upcoming wedding of Amanda Nagler, Reva Nathan’s assistant. Most recently, we were given the honor of performing at the Chicago Catering Executives Club Dinner Dance honoring Stanley Horwich of Weddings, Inc.

Please look at the events that we have performed at in 2005 and 2006. Most have returned for 2007. Each of these engagements is testimonial to the quality of work we provide. Further, please read the letters of recommendation. Perhaps many of these are people you know or parties you may have been aware of. Some you may have even attended. Each one of them has trusted and counted on the reputation that I have worked so hard to create. Obviously, we did not let them down.

I do hope you will call me at 847-381-2633 and give me the opportunity of speaking with you personally. I can promise you it will be my goal to help your wedding day be the sweetest of all memories. One that will last a lifetime!

Sincerely,

Michael Lerich
